What I’m currently picturing is something similar to the Artemis Navigator/Science Officer screen—basically, a zoomed-out overworld map with points of interest and a “sensor range.”

Known objects outside of sensor range are visible, but their status is not. Status updates can be requested from one friendly object at a time.

There are 3 tiers of scanner range. 1st tier, objects show us as either small, medium, large, or supermassive ???? blobs. Stage 2 allows for identifying Type (ship, planet, station, etc.). Stage 3 allows for identifying details (make, model, faction).

Broadcasting allows for identifying objects in the Stage 1 or 2 range.
